Mothers Day is a celebration of the women in our lives.  This day was not created by a brainstorm session at a well-known greeting card company.  The idea for Mother's day has many origins throughout history.  In the United States, Mothers Day is celebrated on the second Sunday of May each year.  Sunday is typically the day that Americans attend a worship service and therefore it is fitting to look at the link between what the Bible, proverbs and inspirational quotes have to say about mothers.

On many occasions in the Bible, the writer speaks of the blessings that we have within our mothers.  The Bible describes the comfort, roles of and our duty to praise our mothers for their work and dedication to our families.  There are very fitting verses regarding our mothers and the attributes they should have.  Mothers Day Bible verses include those from Psalms describing how we each were created within our mother's womb and how she birthed us.  Also, verses from the book of Proverbs are highlighted that describe the character of a virtuous women.  Many congregations will assimilate these verses to our mothers and the continuous work that they do for our families.

Other Mothers Day Bible stories include the relationship between Ruth and Naomi and the wonderful relationship that they had, Moses' mother who protected him in the reeds,  as well as highlighting the story of Mary, the mother of Jesus.

Mothers Day poems and inspirational stories are also favorable during the spring time.  They inspire us to recognize the work our mothers do for us daily.  Many libraries highlight these kind of story books during the spring to gear up for Mothers Day.

Mothers Day crafts are always in an abundance before the holiday.  Every child wants to celebrate their mother, and a home made craft is definitely the route to go.  Many Bible crafts that relate directly to Mothers Day can be found on the Internet.  Bible story and lesson books also highlight a craft for each lesson.  Coloring pages are also great ideas for this special holiday.

Mothers Day isn't just a ploy for you to spend more money at that local card shop, and it wasn't designed by their executives.  However, it is an important holiday for us to reflect about our mothers and the love that they have for us.  Reflecting upon the great examples of mothers within the Bible is a great way to do this.  Mothers Day Bible stories remind us of God's design for our mothers role in our lives.
